Default Some things that should be changed with pets

So I decided that I'd get all the pets that have their own unique statue in HOM and put them in there and then get my white wolf back. And no, this isn't another idea for having each pet have its own unique statue. In fact, seeing the tedious, boring, long hours it takes to level up a pet from level 5 to level 20 is ridiculous, so I wouldn't have the patience to do that for every single pet in the game.

However, what irks me is, there are three pets of the several that can have their own statue in HOM. These are the black moa, black widow, and imperial phoenix. The first two come at level 20 already, so all you have to do is add them. The phoenix starts at level 5 and it has to be level 20 to go into the HOM. So what I'm wondering is, if you can only get the phoenix after completing Factions and it's only one of three pets that can go into the HOM, then why can't it also start at level 20?

That one isn't such a big deal, but the rainbow phoenix...that one is the real kicker. Everyone I talk to agrees with this - the rainbow phoenix is the hardest pet to get in the game, and it not only doesn't get its unique statue in HOM, it starts at level 5. That makes zero sense.

Another friend of mine suggested that when one acquires a pet, it be the same level as its owner. However, since level 20 is the max level in Guild Wars and it's easy to acquire, I can see why that wouldn't work. Perhaps in Guild Wars 2, with that high level cap, that would work better.

So anyway, that's what I think. Thoughts?

u should be able to flag ur pets around if u dont want them to get in the way when pulling mobs with long bows.

Part of the leveling Process is the dire/elder/hearty. I think the phoenix should come at level 20 with a dire/hearty/elder at the end of factions, and diffidently for the rainbow seeing as you already need 10 max titles.

Well the biggest problem would be in evo choices for both the Rainbow and Imperial Phoenix. Level 20 pets can not be evo tailored to specification (as in Elder, Hearty, Dire, Aggressive, etc.) they come as they are charmed. Note that even though the Black Widow is in fact available in three different evo's (Hearty, Elder, Dire), it just as the Black Moa, can't evolve.

It makes perfect sense for the pets that are the most difficult to attain to allow a player the most freedom in evo. Besides if you had the time to get these pets, then you likely have the time to level them to 20 as it is a comparatively insignificant task to complete.

/signed for a statue for the Rainbow Phoenix. Never understood why it didn't get one.

Undecided on lvl 20 for any pet. Getting Dire, Hearty, or Elder is fun for many people, even if it does take time. Raising the pet to an evolution you want is part of the game, and one that I think draw you in a little more. If they made the Rainbow Phoenix start at level 20, it would need to have a random spawn like the Black Widow's and Black Moa so you could get Dire, Hearty or Elder. Since the challenge of getting it isn't a quest (Black Moa and Black Widow), but rather the character achievements, making it level 20 could easily be done. Certain people like the randomness of the spawning for the Black Widow and Black Moa, and may be upset that you can just rezone to the HoM until you find the evolution you want. So definitely undecided.

I'll admit that it doesn't make too much sense for the Black Widow + Moa to be 20 and other "legendary" pets to not be. The only explanation I'd has is that it fits the storyline for the Moa and it'd be pretty odd to see such a low level in the Underworld.

As far as some of the pets not getting a statue, that's been covered before. It'd be preferable for each campaign to have their own legendary pet, besides the Black Widow.

This, but add the elder/dire/hearty chance to the Black Moa as well, as it always comes at elder.

This too.

Also, I agree that the Rainbow Phoenix should be at lvl 20 too, with the random prefix as well.

Also, I'd like to add the addition of these as pets:

Moss Spider
Wintersday Moa
Caribou/Reindeer

Think there are others but I cannot recall.

Aye, and each at lvl 20 with the random prefix spawn. Although with Factions having two "legendary" pet...

i totally agree that it should be lvl 20 when u get it. That idea for gw2 is a good thiing to to have the new pet the same lvl as u.

EDITED: i just read that u can have any kind of pet on the HOM like a wolf or bear, not only the pheonix, black moa, and black widow.

You can, but you only get a generic "animal companion" statues for those. The Black Moa, Spider, and Imperial Phoenix each have a unique statue.

Yup, it would be nice if the phoenix came at lev 20 even if it meant a randon evolution. Still quicker than leveling one

The phoenix in the end game is not level 20... How can they pull up an excuse for that? A very rare RAINBOW phoenix, found in eotn, where there's lots of leet monsters, is level 5... Did I just get head-shot, or is my head hurting more than the full effects of a Mursaat spell?

What I want for pets is the following:
- Two 'prestige' pets for each campaign, making the Phoneix one of the Eye of the North ones, thus including it in the Monument. Prophecies would get a Fire Phoenix and Nightfall a Ghostly one, all appearing in the End-credits area like in Factions.
- A way to quickly change evolution and damage type, especially for PvP. Being it insignia for an armor slot like with Heroes or quickly changing the Pet with a PvP version of the Charm Animal skill that can be used in 6 different pets (3 evolutions, 2 types of damage) that appear only in the PvP version of the Isle of the Nameless. Along with a Pet Tamer.

lol That's funny.

Anyway, I'm liking the ideas people are coming up with. I forgot about the evo thing, though. But that's probably because to me, I don't care if it's hearty, dire, or elderly, I just like having a pet even though I don't take mine out as much anymore.

I love the idea of each campaign having its own legendary pet, and each one getting its own statue and starting at level 20 but being random as to the evo. Factions has two, GWEN has one, and the black widow is core. Here are my ideas for that:

Factions: Black Moa and/or Imperial Phoenix (might take that phoenix out since GWEN has the rainbow one)
GWEN: Rainbow Phoenix
Prophecies: Melandru's Stalker (since it can only be obtained in Pre)
Nightfall: Not sure on this one, but perhaps if there was a pet you could only get in Realm of Torment after a quest or something

Love hearing the ideas! Keep 'em coming!

Black Moa AND Imperial Phoenies are already counted. Once added, no removing is allowed. So, each 'world' (Core, Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall and Eye of the North) must have at least two legendary pets.
Melandru's Stalkers can be found in Old Ascalon.
Since Factions has a Phoenix and Eye of the North another one, the logical step is adding one Phoenix to each region, fitting their own themes:
- Imperial for Factions.
- Rainbow (mix of all colors) for Eye of the North.
- Fire Phoenix for Prophecies (FLAMEseeker Prophecies)
- And Ghostly for Nightfall, since you deal a whole lot with Ghosts through the game, and it would really rock to have a Phoenix with Ghostly wings (like the Rainbow Phoenix, but with the Green and/or Purple hostly colors).

So, that leaves only the other pet for each region. And this and more is noted here:

"It is quite rare, and is found in certain parts of Ascalon, both before and after the Searing."

Would feel bad for the people who charmed a Strider, Black Bear, Wolf, or Warthog in Pre and wanted to get the quest reward for the quest Endangered Species.

I bet we have as much chance of getting more pets added to the game as them putting the Panda back in as a charmable pet. Even if the skin is there to make more Phoenix pets, it isn't going to happen.

Getting something simply for beating the campaign (even in HM) does not make it very prestigious, even if people can show it in HoM. People will always see the rainbow phoenix as the "best" pet, and there's no real point in those pets besides "I think it'd be cool" even though other stuff is better.

I use "Prestige" as a short term for "Allowed in the HoM".
Like with "Prestige" armor or "Prestige" weapons.

Using it in any other way it's too much subjective.
